thunderous thunder and other news
May. 16th, 2007 10:36 amIn the mid of the night, we had torrential rains--heavy, hard rain--with cataclysmically loud thunder and scary-close lightning. I like thunder storms, a lot, and I considered joining Sula in the closet a couple of times. The clouds were banging together with my loft in the middle. I went to the balcony doors once, to smell the rain…and the lightning was so violent it sent me skittering back. I love a heavy drumming rain and exhilarating storm…but it was awful hard to get back to sleep.
In other news
• had lunch with Chris N-B on Monday, which was swell
• finished revision of story and it’s back to the anthology editor
• movement on Deep T. slow, but hopefully will pick up soon
• not only is the lack of bees alarming, it’s keeping the jasmine on my balcony from blooming
• state policy documents really don’t get any more exciting with prolonged exposure
• I have two critiques to produce and feel like I'm clawing for the time (but I just trimmed my nails and I have no purchase)
• I've done a fair amount of mushrooms in my life (in my mis-spent youth, you understand) and nothing ever looked like Chase and Cameron from the patient's psilocybin-cam perspective in last night's House; yes, I was mesmerized by the light in water and colors of plants a few times--but they were only sharper and clearer, enhanced, not tweaked out weird like a bad Photoshop filter.
