Apparently I'm compatible with Spike, according to some great minds.

I'm a generally unfuckwitted, liberal, tight as fuck, relatively well adjusted human being!
See how compatible you are with me!
Brought to you by Rum and Monkey

And now Spike's meme, via A&K:

1. As a child, who was your favorite superhero/ heroine? Why?
Honestly? It was the Mod Squad, as a team. They were superheroes to my mind.

2. What was one thing you always wanted as a child but never got?
A haircut I liked.

3. What's the furthest from home you've been?
That would have to be Naxos, yes? Ah, Naxos...

4. What's one thing you've always wanted to learn but haven't yet?
To play the violin, really beautifully (or at all).

5. What are your plans for the weekend?
Yoga, buying a couple birthday prezzies, perhaps a movie, napping. I may try to engage the kids in making Chinese New Year's lanterns. I may not. (I find myself wishing I was in Vancouver so I could go to the symphony with you guys.)

Alyx's question: if you could have gone on one exotic trip as a young child, what place do you think you would have been best able to appreciate?
Scotland. I wanted to hang out on those misty moors something fierce. I'm pretty sure I would have appreciated the hell out of it.

In other news--yippee!-my pal Dean, who holds the title of my oldest friend, as in, I've known him since I was sixteen (he's pretty old, too), is going to be in town for a couple of days next week to teach a little digital filmmaking course and we're going to have most of one day to hang out. Yay!!!!

I forgot to report on yesterday. I took the day off, spent the morning engaged in my ideal writing process--write, ask myself some questions, nap, wake up with answers, write some more--then went out with Phyllis. We went to a Vogue Beauty School and got facials from students for cheap; an hour long, and it was sooooooo nice. And did I say, cheap? Then we went to eat at a very cool Asian buffet, both the space and food were enjoyable. And then we went to see The Hours, which, frankly, depressed me, and I'm not at all sure I liked it. I've decided that Meryl Streep is hard for me to take. She's so fraught. The whole thing was very claustrophobic. When Claire Danes appeared onscreen I found myself desperately relieved--thank god, fresh air.

Anyway, a good afternoon off, and it was very needed.
