you can never have too many umbrellas
Jul. 8th, 2003 03:53 pmRain, pretty rain. Got soaked coming to work this morning (my own fault for not grabbing the umbrella). Then partially wet running an errand a short while ago. So I bought an umbrella while out, because two drenchings only to be chilled in the air conditioned yeti-land that is any and all university buildings seemed like tempting fate and cold germs too much. The rain is still pretty, regardless.
Had a visitor to our center today, a woman looking for "historical photoraphs inside old cotton ginning facilities, showing the ginning dust that filled the air, causing respiratory diseases." She had done a lot of google searches and come up with nothing. Swiftly earning my "human research engine" appelation, I found three historical photos for her at the Library of Congress Prints and Photographs Online Catalog, a great visual reference.
Meanwhile, the incredibley exciting news of A&K's wedding and biting my nails waiting to hear from Ellen Datlow about a story... Quite an afternoon. All that and a new umbrella, too. A red one.
