ATC & sundry
Feb. 20th, 2004 12:32 pmWent to the meetup, such as it was--just me and one other, who turned out to be a lovely woman. We talked about art and cards and techniques and other stuff. She hadn't brought her cards, thinking we were just meeting up to get to know one another, not trade, but she liked my cards and picked one and is sending me one in exchange. She said she's been trying to get a group going here for 3 months. There's one in San Antonio that's huge...but for some reason people won't commit here. (I still feel sure there's some group that does meet, but it's word of mouth and who you know--probably people who've known each other a while). We agreed to keep meeting in the hopes of attracting more folks.
She turned me on to two cool sites. One, is Found Art! which provides gallery space for people to put up info about pieces of art they leave around town with a little tag for whoever it picks it up to find out about it at the website. (her stuff is under luckyme) The other is Artella Words and Art which is a magazine of collaborations between writers and artists.
It was a beautiful night out last night, and fun to be downtown and see all the activity; Austin really has changed, in terms of the downtown area coming alive, since I moved here so long ago.
Alas, I had tea with caffeine at the cafe where we met, much later in the evening than I would normally, and I was awake and much itchy well into the wee hours of the morning. So I didn't get up in time to do anything in the way of writing this morning.
