containers and bumperstickers
Aug. 29th, 2004 09:27 amYesterday, after more furniture shopping with N, most of it at Four Hands which is, um, hands down, the most wonderful furniture store in Austin (I so covet this very tall three arch/pillared carved Indonesian architectural thing they have, plus gorgeous antique Indian doors)...anyway, after this we went to The Great Outdoors and I bought some plants for the container garden I am putting together on my balcony. This morning, with cool breezes slipping about, I repotted the dwarf fountain grass and a variety of lovely sedums. More to do, but I ran out of soil.
The cats came out with me, exploring the balcony and plants for the first time. Aristotle gnawed blissfully (it was bliss, definitely) on the grasses and in general we were all very happy. Sula just sat and sniffed and surveyed. The balcony seems like it will be fine for them. The presence of the occassional dog roaming free through the construction pit seems likely to keep thoughts of diving nose first off from their furry little heads.
My two favorite Bush sucks bumperstickers so far:
"I wasn't using my civil liberties anyway."
"Bush for lawn ornament." (though I wouldn't really want him on my lawn, if I had one)
And that's here in Texas, although much of Texas refers to Austin as the People's Republic of Austin.
