I've now had some version of the following dream multiple times. In last night's episode:
A boy of about nine or so has premonition/foresight of an attack by aliens. The form the attack takes is a rapid, dark moiling of deep cloud that turns into a terrible storm, in the midst of which are blobbish white protoplasmoa-like things, in bunches. They're lethal. The storm targets a small set of city/neighborhood blocks and is in the way of a warning, or advance calling card. The kid only gets to save his little sister. There is much running from their house, which is central to the target area, down city blocks, trying to outrun the driving storm; then they hijack a car and he drives (badly--stalling and grinding gears), taking them through a gaggle of the protoplasmoas; one lands on the windshield and he thinks they're done for, but then it lets them go, because he is the one who sees the warning clearly and they want it given.
They get just outside the storm radius and take shelter in a kind of half-underground crypt kind of place; no bodies, but lots of old stone and marblework, much mossed, crumbling steps up and down all over, with pillars, and hundreds of old statues, angels, people, animals. They're haunted; they don't move from their spots, but the move, heads, arms, eyes, gesturing, constant murmer of insane conversations. A little stone rabbit talks to them about something or other while they shelter, but they aren't even surprised, being much more concerned and freaked about the alien storm.
When they come out, after the storm is over, all the buildings in the target area have become friable. The kid presses his fingers into a brick wall and stuff crumbles away in his hand like rotten styrofoam. The people are all dead.
