The high's been over a hundred the last couple days, but yesterday late afternoon, finally, finally, rain! Watched the storm move in for a long while, lightning and thunder and heavy clouds, with a rain shadow off the south. I was so afraid it was going to be a lot of noise and light and no real rain. Drip drip, wind picking up, drip drip, and then, rain! On tree-bending winds. Deluge and draping and cloakfuls of rain on the wind. Lightning be damned, I went out to get wet. Glory.

Later, when the main storm had passed, off to the east and south the cloud system flashed with multiple lighnings again and again, almost constantly, for a very long while.

Blessedly cool out all the way until this morning, when I took my tea on the balcony.

And it's only supposed to get up to 96 today.

(yes, there's some irony in my tone)
