Every once in a while I get out to the dillo stop just as the longest train in the world is passing, blocking the street at the western end of our lofts. I'm talking a full fifteen minutes of freight train screeling* by at a slow crawl, with the dillo I'm waiting on stuck on the other side. This is even more fun when there's a semi from the recycling plant stuck on my side, two car lengths from the dillo stop, spewing diesel exhaust.

Normally, it's actually quite pleasant out at our dillo stop; it's by the lofts plaza with our giant old tree, bamboo plantings and a tall modern metal pillar of a fountain atop which birds often light to refresh their birdy selves. Minus diesel exhaust, the train is pretty cool, too, if you like trains, and I do. There's lots of artful, bright grafitti on the endlessly screeling boxcars.

*screeling--bonus made-up word, to describe the sound of screeching without implying speed

In turtle news, I just went out to warm up and sat by the turtle pond for a bit. This one little turtle kept chasing a bigger around, trying to get in front of it, nose to nose, floating, then going after it again when it wouldn't stay that way. Any one have any clue what it was trying to do? Was it just being bratty and trying to annoy an elder, or what?
