Jul. 5th, 2006 08:12 amQuite a show in the sky last night, and I don't mean the fireworks. Hanging out in the pavilion with a couple of neighbors while they grilled (I eventually gave in and grilled a gardenburger), we were treated to a sky full of varied cloud action, brief downpours, a double rainbow arching entirely over the lofts, the strangest huge-ass bank of low riding white cloud I've ever seen (it looked like either we'd suddenly acquired a large and looming mountain range replete with snow, or the mother ship was coming in), more deep and varied cloud action, spectacular lightnings, and then an intensely glowing yellow-gold sunset under the louring cloud cover, looking like the city (as the sun sets behind the skyline) was burning up. Add lots of breezes, swallows calling and tracing heiroglyphs through the air, and the occassional neighborhood firework and it was pretty spectacular.
I watched the fireworks, as the rain was starting up again, from my balcony, and they were fine, but pretty much an afterthought.
Back to jobhunting at my job.
it was a good four-day weekend, restful with some social times.
