Not sure there's anyone who reads my blog who won't already have seen this, but just in case, Dr. Peter Watts, critically acclaimed Canadian SF author, was beaten, maced, and imprisoned by U.S. border guards (on his way back into Canada) for having the temerity to ask why they were searching his car, and has been charged with assaulting a federal officer. He's now facing life-altering legal fees and possible imprisonment. In his own words, here.
