Apr. 21st, 2010 09:51 pmDespite a canceled flight and a wrench in my back, I made it to my mom's to celebrate her 78th birthday. Excellent to see her and Andy, and my sister and niece. Niece has tattoos of a little Totoro and a kodama from Princess Mononoke. This pleases me. The usual hot tubbing, beach walking, lolling about and listening to the ocean, good food, Scrabble, goofiness, and general sense of love, ensued.
Didn't take too many pics this time, but here's a sweetie we met on the beach, with a few more pics up in the gallery linked to the picture. This pup tried to herd us every time we walked by the place where she was staying.
We watched the new Doctor Who, as mom and Andy are SF/F lovers. I think I was more pleased with it than anyone else, though. And today, my necessary day at home after traveling before going back to dayjobbage tomorrow, I watched Bright Star, Jane Campion's lovely period piece about Keats and Fannie Brawn.
Good to come home to cat and kittens, and only a somewhat wrecked loft (as neighbor B said, those kittens are baaad). But I miss my mom and sister...I feel a sense that it's only going to become more difficult to fly, for a variety of reasons, and I wish I was closer to them and to more of my beloved friends.
