not stellar

So, 2013 hasn't started with particular kindness in my world. A good friend recently let me know that he's been diagnosed with various expressions of cancer and given a poor prognosis. And my father just went into hospice. (Far from here in the snowbound reaches of Downeast Maine, both too cold for my already effed up, sore-covered hands, and pretty damn expensive to get to from here.)

Sad, tired, a bit lonely.

However. Working on a story, and writing always helps (alas and sigh, good writing career news would be awfully nice and helpful, too). Plus, you know, friends (mostly far away, but still, friends are love), cats, movies (re-watched all three LotR movies in the last three evenings after dayjob), curling up in a ball on the couch...
