Dinner at El Chile for Pamzin's b-day, with Chad and a small but choice cast of others. I love seeing my friends and acquaintances and I just don't get to see them enough. Margaret looked smashing in very keen Tyrolean hat and, as usual, said sotto voce sweet and naughty things to me about how hot I was. How can I not love her? Pam bought the first round of prickly pear margaritas as her birthday greeting to all. As it turned out we were all lightweights and one round was all we drank, but they were delicious and very pretty, swirled sugar white and claret violet that mixed, after a time, to a lovely magenta violet. (My boss had told me a horror story about prickly pear margaritas gone bad, but that was when someone actually went out and got the juice straight from the plant, which is supposed to be tricky.) Nothing scary or bad about these prickly pear margaritas. I had chicken with a poblano raga, mushrooms, and crema and it was yuuuuuuuuumy.
There was some discussion of starting a dinner club; Chad suggested we call it the Comanche Club for some reason. I think I'm going to nudge and nudge for this to actually happen.
Came home, stripped clothes from itchy self, and watched tape of Angel. I was very surprised to find that it was good to see Codrelia, the Cordelia of old, from before she became so evil and bleh and moody and kinder-fucking. It was a decent episode and I was happy to have watched it.
Also, phonecall from Jane! It took me a moment, in my slightly inebriated state, to wrap my head around it being Supersonic, cause I don't think we've ever talked on the phone and I was, well, slightly inebriated. (so, that's why I sounded so flat of tone in the beginning of the call, Jane--sorry) She and Mr. Jane are coming to Austin for a Mr. Jane-job thing--I'm gonna see her!!!! Yayness of the big jumping around kind!
It rained most of the night and the sound was just...the purest music to my soul.
