Friday night Jane and Chris took me out to dinner, which was soooooo nice of them (as I love going out to dinner). We went to Louie's 106, which I'd heard about as being very good, but never been to, since it's on the expensive side. (the hostess, from her tall thin blond height, to Jane, no, I don't see the reservation; but we were before the dinner rush, so she had to seat us anyway.) I had a very fine seafood paella--marking the first time I have liked calamari, since it was tender and not the least bit chewy--with an excellent house salad. Only Jane managed to eat all her food (though I did manage to drop my spiffy black styrofoam takehome box twice, once in the restaurant, where only a bit of food was lost, and again at home, where the cats were consequently treated to a couple pieces of shrimp and assorted other bits with rice). We shared a white chocolate/fruit thing and a creme brulet, adorned with lush strawberries, for dessert.
Yesterday, during the usual Satruday errands, Nadia and I went to the Alamo to see Starsky and Hutch. It was fun and funny--we laughed our asses off. They really played up to the homoeroticism of the original and for that I say, yay! And the cameo at the end was somehow warming.
Oh, the icecream--I indulged by ordering a big serving of Amy's icecream at the Alamo, something I haven't done in a long time, and enjoyed every yummy cold bite.
