Because it should be posted, I post a link to this article, The Gray Zone. It's political, it's horrifying, and it's no surprise, really. The Bush administration defies the worst and lowest expectations we can have of the American government.
Anyway. Blah.
I will now put energy into writing, then ATC making.
Oh, and I saw Van Helsing last night. What to say. Um, I laughed, at apparently inappropriate moments, because Phyllis told me to stop (not seriously). The werewolf content provided a lot of romance-cover worthy views of pretty male flesh, both Hugh and the actor playing Kate's brother, who definitely hit some buttons for me. Kate's cleavage of joy outfit also was fairly mesmerizing. I liked the some of the music, but not with this movie--which hadn't earned the overblown moments of the score. The action was over the top, which in some cases was fun, but ultimately made everything kind of meaningless. A little less over the top, a few more quiet, character-driven moments, a little more plot, it could have been an awesome movie. I enjoyed parts of it. But too much of it was just stoooooooopid. Character depth and plot would have compensated for that. Ah well. Another potentially cool movie ruined by an over reliance on technology and gosh-wowism.
Somebody should teach these guys that rule of science fiction--you can ask your audience to swallow one big improbability; everything after that should abide by the laws of physics or at least make some internal, logical, sense. Feh.
