I'd say it was a good con. It was fun, actually, to teach in the workshop--a whole new experience just giving critique in a workshop and never being in the hotseat. All the students seemed to feel they got good and useful feedback and Sharon Shinn, who was the co-teacher for my group (Group Echo), is a very lovely and enjoyable person.

The panels all went well, I appear to have done a good job as a moderator, and Willie of Adventures in Crime and Space had five copies of my book and was able to sell them all. In fact, there were people wanting copies after the five were sold.

My reading went okay...I'm still not a stellar reader and at one point while reading I actually thought, maybe I just shouldn't do readings, but hopefully I'm improving.

Sat at the table for my autographing and signed exactly one program, since I'd already signed the books Willie sold at other times, but that's about what I expected, so it didn't bother me. I did get to talk briefly with Fair Witness and to meet Phaed, and that was swell.

I acquired a copy of The Faery Reel, which has an awesome story by Alyx in it, and Charles Vess, who did the cover and interior art, was sitting right there and signed it for me. Also got Martha Well's The Ships of Air which she was kind enough to let me read before it was officially out, and I'm looking forward to reading it again (Jane, you should check her books out--I think you'd like them); I missed Martha's reading, which made me sad, but she has posted what she read here, an excerpt from the book following The Ships of Air, The Gate of Gods. Other things purchased included a cat toy for apologies to the felines for being gone so much and their dinner being so late both Friday and Saturday night. Plus a b-day present for a friend in the form of a handmade tiled box from the Art room. (And Alyx and Kelly sent me Patricia McKillip's Alphabet of Thorn for my birthday, so whoopwhoop! on all the new books.)

Random other stuff: I danced at the dance, where the music, supplied by Two-Headed Baby, which includes Bradley Denton, Carolyne Spector, and my friend Rory, was pretty damn good and quite danceable. I ate Indian food twice because, of the nearby restaurants (mostly chain), Taj Palace was really the best choice. Many people commiserated with me on the cover of my book and I got two comments to add to my list: "It's Lady Chablis!" in reference to the person on the cover looking a bit like a drag queen, and "It's you made up to look like a drag queen!" Ahem. John Picacio (whose art I love and whose box constructions I have coveted for years) even passed the copy I had with me around at the panel on artists working with writers and said, "I'm so sorry."

Much to do, but I hope to be able to ease back into my writing schedule this afternoon.
