and I miss them already, yup. Talking, talking, talking, reading, tube watching, snuggles and hugs and back scratches, yummy food and too much dessert (sticky toffee pudding warmed in microwave with icecream on top, mmm), kitty watching, happy excursions, a two hour brunch with Howard Waldrop...basically, a wonderful wonderful vacation with my best peeps.
We even got the heavy heavy rain, though not quite the thunderstorm, requested by Kellstar.
We all enjoyed the new show Hawaii, even with its flaws--and because of the weirdness of premiere week, got to see two episodes. Watched The Reckoning which had such lovely buildup and so much going for it and then just completely fell apart in the last quarter. Also watched Hidalgo, which, horses, horses! yes. So the movie's silly in many ways, who cares. Horses! And Viggo has a very fine seat. Alyx and Kelly also indulged me by watching several episodes of The Maginificent Seven, the show in which I have been reading the fanfic for quite a few years now.
While I'm here, Jane, I have two book recs for you (Jane, where are you? are you okay?): Lian Hearn's Across the Nightingale Floor, the first book in her Tales of the Otori cycle. I'm reading the second one now, Grass for his Pillow, and it's even better than the first. And a YA from Tanith Lee, Piratica, which is only out in a British edition right now, but is scheduled for a U.S. edition later this year or early next, so you should be able to get your library to order it.
That is all. For now.
