Ah, East Austin. This morning while I was waiting for the 'dillo, a man came walking down the street with a small wicker hamper type covered basket on his back. He came over to me, set it down, and opened it to reveal a cornucopia of Mexican pastries (if you've never seen Mexican pastries, they look like this--skulls are extra) and indicated that I should pick one. I peered in and did so, one of the less colorful, a ring of very flaky dough lightly cinnamoned and sugared. He produced tongs and a paper bag, I asked him how much (actually, I think I asked him when, not how much--stupid gringo--but he got it), he indicated one dollar and I gave it to him. This was a very satisfying transaction. Mobile art pastries. Also, yum.
Speaking of art, I went with B to the Blue Genie Art Bazarre last night, for about an hour. Lovely and fun and full of cool. Saw some art that I would definitely buy if I had the bucks. Also things I would get as presents, if ditto. As it was I feasted my senses and then B bought me a glass bead necklace I'd been admiring. Present! Unexpected! Lovely! B rocks, seriously.
Speaking of presents, opened a Chanukah gift from
planetalyx and
kelly_yoyo last night and lo, behold, it was season three of Buffy!!! A most wonderful and unexpected gift, again. Off my Amazon wishlist--but I seriously don't expect anyone to buy me these 'spensive things--the list is a reminder to me that I want these things eventually. So--untold riches, here. I mean--wow.
And then, this morning, the mailman left a package from a certain
faith0322. I haven't opened the prezzies inside yet, but I'm anticipating art goodness with a happy heart.
So, in conclusion, friends and men bearing pastries have rained much blessing upon me and I am most thankful.
