Ahem.
Spent xmas with N&C and the kids; was good, though they were still a bit like wild dogs at the feeding over the presents. Torn flesh, um wrapping paper, everywhere, and scant moments of obligatory appreciation given before the hunt for the next thing to claw and bite open. We adults enjoyed our antipasto later in the day, and then our dinner of duck, creamed onions, roasted taters, and greenbeans with hazelnuts and lemon zest.
N&C gave me the complete LotR EE trilogy. They are as gods among friends. I watched RotK Monday night and was very very happy about it.
Have spent a good major portion of every day this week working on finishing the damn revision of the novel already. Progress made; will it be done before the new year? Yes, dammit. Yes. Dammit. Yes...arrrgh. Maybe.
I have been shanghaid away a couple of afternoons, Wednesday by A from New Bohemia to go to her house and watch the pilot ep of Dead Like Me which was fucking awesome. Just good. I have now moved the rest of season one to the top of my Netflix queue and I freely rec this show, still currently on Showtime, I think, if it hasn't been cancelled, to all. The television watching was just how A got me over there, however, so as to be there for the evening cocktail hour she had other folks coming for. Met some nice people, talked a lot, came home. Yesterday I spent the afternoon with N and the kids, went to a pretty, tree and creek-laced park, had lunch, then food shopped.
There's a lot to be sad about, a lot to be thankful for. Much that is heartbreaking, much that is thrillingly beautiful. And a lot in between. Currently, I am thankful to be dry, sheltered, fed and living in abundance; for all my loved ones; for my kitties, who are furry; for this life.
