A new kind of yarn for the knitters among us.

The weekend was beautiful, weather-wise. Sunday I sorted the writing situation a bit in the morning, then went to see Shanghai Knights with Phyllis in the afternoon. Can't recommend the movie; I barely laughed out loud at all, though Jackie Chan was as fun to watch as ever. Then went with Phyllis to shop for shoes to go with her bridesmaid's dress for an upcoming wedding. She got some swank silver shoes with fat heels. Then home, foodshopping, and home again, where I watched tv and played with the kitties until I went to bed.

Feeling tired and at the same time, a little on edge, today; I think it has to do with the world situation. Being so unhappy with our gov and what they're doing both domestically and internationally, and knowing anti-Americanism is on the rise just seems to make me tired. I know the thing to do and will be doing it: focus on what is sweet, beautiful, on love, on the connection to loved ones, on the small illuminated moments of life...

Also, for re the edginess, got my first crit on the story, from Joe, and, predictably, he doesn't get it. Is it wrong of me to say that Joe just doesn't read at the level I write on? Happily an email from Alyx prior to this undercuts it considerably.

small illuminated, somewhat idiosyncratic, moments of life:
*the afternoon cuppa tea
*coming home to the kitties
*Matteo telling a story about spaceships and racing cars
*brownies that Nadia made
*talking with Julia about what's going on in her life
*phone calls with friends
*napping in the sun
(I'm beginning to feel a little like that credit card commercial...blah blah, $30.00, blah blah, $118.00, blah blah, priceless--but I won't let that stop me)
*rain streaking the windows outside, music and warmth inside
*doing laundry and having all clean, dryer-warm clothes
*enjoying the colors, shapes, and fabrics of my clothes
*contemplating a new story
*the smell of steaming artichokes
*new shoes
*really sweeping, evocative soundtrack music
*Buffy, Farscape, and other television watching
*the marinated grilled chicken and tortillas that Phyllis has been bringing for Tuesday night veiwing
(lots of food, huh?)
*breathing, breathing is really good
*learning cool new stuff
*getting tickled, entertained, intrigued or blown away by the imaginations of my friends

Is all for now.
