Pretty productive, Friday night I helped at S's with party prep for the Oscar Gala; the usual chore fest on Saturday, with a small shopping jaunt with N; a good writing morning Sunday followed by light housecleaning and planting of the cat garden catnip, rye, wheat, oat grass, and lettuce D sent me, then a little more time over at S's helping with last minute prep.

Then I showered and donned my evening gown and glammed up and went and walked on the red carpet. The dinner was excellent, apricot and pinenut couscous stuffed quail (a number of which I stuffed on Friday night), a spinach gratin, and ginger carrots, with a greens and tangelo salad before and many little sweet goodies after. It was fun watching the oscars with so many people around, lots of joviality, jokes, and laughter; Jon Stewart, always a plus. There was trivia to while away the commercials, and S's very large Maine Coon cats for furry diversion...but...

Ultimately, it really wasn't my cup of tea. For various reasons too petty to go into.

Taking a mental health day today, plus, kinda feeling like crap. Starting to feel the loom of the deadline on the current story...

ETA: the best moment in the Oscars (which, really, I don't usually watch) was Larry McMurtry pointing out that the screenplay was based on a book, and thanking booksellers, small and large, everywhere, for their part in keeping alive the culture of the book. I'm not sure booksellers have ever been thanked at the Oscars before.
