...of the room in a house variety. So I'm living, as I am now, with N&C, but the house is much bigger. I have a room in the front and a smaller room down the hall. Then I discover this room next to C's study (in actual house he doesn't have one), in a kind of off-shoot of the house. It's big, with a high, peaked ceiling, windows on two sides and floor to ceiling shelving all along one wall; no one is living in it, but all this stuff is being stored there for former residents. The stuff is fascinating, collections of foo dogs, all kinds of fascinating miniature things, clothes, including things like a "Spanish Chanel" dress which looks very nice on me, fabrics, antique electronics, records, art, and more. Of course, it's all rather dusty, and I spy at least one mouse nesting in it, but going through it to pack it up, cadge a few items, and then move it to another unused room, is a task I actually look forward to. There are two other interesting features of the room: one of the windows looks out on a hill which sometimes is forested, other times has a swimming pond which seems to be part of a girl's school; the view is very intimate and when it's the pond, I can hear the girls' convos and their splashing; when it's the forest or the hill, I see a trailing of people coming along, all in sparkly, colorful circus--kind of Fellini-esque--costumes. A friend looking with me says they're setting up for a Renassiance Faire, and as he says it they do a kind of fade/flicker and reform as an actual faire in Renaissance times, then back. The other, more disturbing feature, is a locked door in the corner that goes down to the cellar, which no one has been to in year and years. At one point I'm passing it and my new glasses fall off and go under the door. I hear them faling down the steps, hitting each one...for a very long time. Later we come across a key (I have several friends helping me) and my three friends and Casey decide to go down and see the cellar; I am not at all sure this is a good idea and am of two minds--if I don't go, they may come back and not be themselves anymore and how will I know (I suspect some kind of Lovecraftian evil in the depths of the cellar), if I do go, well, I could succomb, too. I am relieved that Nadia is staying up above with me. (I just realized that this stairway to the cellar descends from the second floor, which is where the room is.)

Anyway, it was highly detailed and quite entertaining, all in all. Even the angst regarding the cellar was very low-key.
