Hello lj. Last day of WFC. It's been very very fun and great so far. A lot of folks have left this morning, so it should be some quieter today.

Highlights: The mass autographing. Because I am in the Cross Plains Universe anthology, which everyone attending the con got with registration, and all the authors sat together, I had a blast. Signed many many many books. A couple of people even brought THE Z RADIANT by for me to sign. Wheee! The whole thing rocked.

The alternate cover is a big hit. Everyone agrees it should have been the cover from the beginning.

The lovely and talented Brenda Carre and Carol Berg took the time to coach me on pitching my second novel, which I'm currently sending out. In all these years, no one's ever done that, and I've avoided having to pitch any way I could. I haven't actually pitched it to an agent or editor in person yet, but this was still awesome.

Naomi_traveller and bricoleur continued to be wonderful. Also met someone from my online crit group I've never met in person, K.Z. Perry, and she was great and had some exciting news.

The banquet was fun; I looked great, the salmon was yummy, and Brad (the toastmaster) was hilarious.

I acquired a very cool little piece of art which I will post a pic of later.

Looks like rain today.

Other cool things happened. More later. Must to go now.

The first evening of the con was very lovely. Saw lots of folks--and met, in person, in the real, [personal profile] bricoleur and [profile] naomi_traveller! They are both delightful. (which I knew, but they're even better in person) Went to dinner with a bunch of the other authors and the editors (and some convivial extras) of the Cross Plains Universe anthology. The book is beautiful and I'm very happy about it. There's a review of it up on RevolutionSF, and even though it doesn't mention my story, it's a great review.

Question: Why does everyone think Austin is a desert? We get the same annual rainfall as Seattle here, folks. We just get it in half the time. The deserts are west of here. Austin is pretty damn green. In more ways than one.

Oh, and I had success (well, fingers crossed; I'm going by FedEx-Kinkos this morning to pick them up) with getting some alternate covers printed; only ten (it was kinda 'spensive), but enough for the con.

eta: I'm probably going to miss commenting on a bunch of friends' posts over the next few days. But I still love you. Yes, you.

Okay, then

Here's me for World Fantasy:

Friday 8pm-10pm: I'll be at the mass autographing session with the other Cross Plains anthology folks.

Saturday 3:30pm-4:30pm: Cross Plains Universe Reading, with Scott Cupp, Lawrence Person, and myself (that's all that's listed, at any rate). Maybe we'll read excerpts from everyone's stories.

The rest of the time I hope to be happily having a blast with friends, old, new, only known through lj previously, and otherwise. There's a Persian restuarant that has a fabulous buffet on the weekends that I've raved about here before, a not-to-distant drive from the con hotel, if anyone's up for a good lunch there one day. I've made my rental car reservation, secured my time off from work, and hope to have those alternate book covers and my beautiful [profile] stinabat-designed calling cards (with my spiff new gmail address to which I will soon be switching) in hand.

Much cheering is heard.
